My name is Liz Kaplan. I live in Oviedo, Florida. I am currently certified as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I also have a certification in active aging and nutrition. I have been married for 23 years and have 3 children – a son in college and two daughters ages 16 and 11 who are both cheerleaders and also compete in cross country and weight lifting. Fitness and nutrition is what makes me happy! Through many years of trial and error, I have found a way to make it a not just a part of my everyday life but my family’s too. We plan our daily schedules around practices and workouts, we plan our meals, we eat together as a family nearly every night, and we plan family vacations that involve physical exercise and activities together. It can be challenging but I believe that with a little effort and guidance, everyone can find a way to live fit and healthy by their own standards. For my husband and I, that means doing our best to pass on the good habits we practice to our kids. We talk about nutrition and we encourage our kids to make time to do strength and endurance conditioning to improve at their sports. (Even though they don’t always listen!) The memories we have made hiking, biking, rafting, running and climbing together on family vacations are the ones that have made my kids confident in their abilities and have always given us a common bond to share no matter how old they get or how different our interests might be. That is what makes fitness such a universal language!
