Services

FitgirlKrazy is a personal training service started by a regular mom who wants to help other moms (and their daughters) realize the krazy good benefits of fitness and nutrition. What makes me the right choice over other trainers out there? Simple. I am just like you. A mom who over the past 25 years, has tried nearly every type of exercise and diet available. What I have learned is that the sooner you stop trying to “get buff” or “look hot” and learn how to make fitness a part of your everyday life (rather than just a task) the easier your goals will be not only to attain but more importantly maintain for years to come. Fitness is not a quick journey with a beginning and end. It is a mindset that requires both commitment and consistency. However, the thing I love about fitness most, is there is always something new to learn and it is never ever too late to start. All you need is a commitment to yourself to feel better every day and a little guidance to stay on track. That’s where I come in!

Let's break this down:

For the Mom’s:

As much as it pains me to admit it, I am nearly 50. What many women (like myself) find as they enter their 40’s, is that despite their best efforts to exercise and eat right, nothing quite seems to work like it used to. If you are like me, you begin to wake up morning after morning feeling foggy, sluggish and irritable. At first, you think, that’s ok, I always feel better after I have some caffeine and do my work out, but much to your surprise – you don’t. Newsflash: It is not your imagination. What most women don’t know is that peri-menopause symptoms (like sleeplessness, weight gain, hot flashes and brain fog) can begin as early as your late 30’s and last until you are in full blown menopause in your 50’s – that is a long freaking time! Now, let me be clear. I am not a doctor and nothing will make the annoying symptoms of peri-menopause go away completely, but after spending 2 years feeling mentally slow, physically stressed and generally defeated I realized that it wasn’t my husband and kids fault that I was so stressed and unhappy, it was early menopause! Once I realized the cause, I began working to change my diet, exercise routine and even my sleep habits. It wasn’t easy and it did not banish the symptoms completely (I still get hot flashes some nights – oh joy!) but it did enable me to take back control of my body and feel like myself again. Yes, getting older sucks. However, with the right diet, rest, and workout regimen, you can once again be the boss of you. All you need is the right tools and someone to show you how to use them. I would love to be that someone!

For the Girls:

I have two daughters (ages 16 and 11) and both are cheerleaders who also do weightlifting, tumbling and run cross country. Regardless of the sport, if you have girls who are considering a sport at college level, ensuring they know how to manage their daily fitness and nutrition regimen is critical to their success and ongoing health. The reality is that even if your daughter is now practicing 3-4 days a week and possibly doing independent workouts 1 or 2 days a week, she is likely underprepared for the rigor of college athletics. Not only from a physical standpoint but a nutritional one as well. The level of athleticism required to try out and participate for college level sports (female or coed) requires not only a great deal of explosive upper and lower body strength but the endurance to perform complex skills repeatedly, (sometimes in extreme heat) for extended periods of time. This type of long- term intense physical activity is not mastered in a week or two. It requires months of consistent cardio and strength conditioning focused specifically on building muscle and endurance to directly support their athletic needs. This doesn’t just mean more trips to the gym (anyone can do that) it means a progressive program to gradually increase strength and endurance accompanied by a nutrition regimen that promotes their ability to build muscle and sustain activity. Many of these girls already have the drive and commitment to excel at their sport. All they need is a basic understanding of how important consistent strength training and smart dietary choices are to their overall performance.
